Rev. Erica Thomas is our NMU Wesley Campus Ministry Director. Erica is a California native who is thriving as a transplant in the UP as she enjoys the snowy winters and experiencing all four seasons. She holds a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and is a Full Member Deacon in the Michigan Conference. Erica finds joy in empowering youth and young adults to grow into their potential and follow their dreams.  When she is not hanging out with NMU Wesley students, she can be found out on the trails with her two pups, Wrenegade and Santiago. She is passionate about the outdoors and enjoys sharing her passion through wilderness emergency medicine instruction and volunteering with search and rescue through the Marquette County Sheriff’s department.

Rev. Scott Harmon comes with a wide breadth of experience in serving United Methodist congregations from small community churches in our Upper Peninsula to large multi-staff congregations in lower Michigan. He is a collaborative, creative, pastor who describes his ministry as… “encouraging persons within and beyond the church to listen for God’s voice in their own lives and take the journey.”
Most recently, Scott has served as District Superintendent of the Northern Skies District where he worked with congregations in navigating the many challenges of the covid pandemic, division within the church, and changes in community and congregational life. He values the strength that diversity holds, believing “God does not call us to be the same, but to be listening and walking our own journey, while affording others the same grace.” As a second-career pastor he holds undergraduate degrees in Architecture and Secondary Industrial Education, as well as Master of Divinity and MBA in Non-Profit Leadership.

He and his wife, Bron, have two adult children. McKenzie and her husband, Brady, and Aiden. Together, Scott and Bron enjoy “quiet sports” (kayaking, backpacking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, etc.). “We are outdoor people and try to be as close to the natural beauty of our region as we can.”

In addition to ministry, he loves hiking, biking, camping, and all things outside.
